WHO WE ARE

We are the over 200 certificated employees of the Moreland School District in Santa Clara County (California). We are classroom teachers, counselors, speech therapists, school psychologists, instructional coaches and more.

Our Association represents all Moreland educators and mediates issues with our employer, including employment conditions and employer-employee relations.

The Moreland Teachers Association is our professional voice, speaking with authority for teachers. Our message is that we are here to serve the needs of our students through the  establishment of a safe and  positive learning environment ta every site. We intend to focus on professional growth through the creation of a work environment that is professional, consistent, and empowering.

We are affiliated with the California Teachers Association and the National Education Association.

OUR VALUES

PRINCIPLE I: COMMITMENT TO THE STUDENT

The educator strives to help each student realize his or her potential as a worthy and effective member of society. The educator therefore works to stimulate the spirit of inquiry, the acquisition of knowledge and understanding, and the thoughtful formulation of worthy goals.

PRINCIPLE II: COMMITMENT TO THE PROFESSION

The education professional is vested by the public with a trust and responsibility requiring the highest ideals of professional service.

In the belief that the quality of the services of the education profession directly influences the nation and its citizens, the educator shall exert every effort to raise professional standards, to promote a climate that encourages the exercise of professional judgment, to achieve conditions that attract persons worthy of trust to careers in education, and to assist in preventing the practice of the profession by unqualified persons.
